Every job is different — that’s why we do it right.
At Central Custom Engineering, we specialise in delivering high-quality workmanship and innovative engineering solutions tailored to your exact needs.

Built for purpose, built to last.
There’s no one-size-fits-all approach here. We take the time to understand exactly what you require, then design and build it using quality materials that are made to last.
Our workshop is equipped with specialised sheet metal machinery, allowing us to produce everything from custom boxes and flashings to industrial-grade trailers, alloy dog boxes, and truck decks. These are our specialties — but we’re also equipped with the skill, experience and creative thinking to tackle even the most complex or unusual projects.
Alongside our custom builds, we also offer expert repairs and maintenance. If something breaks or needs adjusting, we’ll go out of our way to get you sorted.
For customers in the Central Otago region, we offer mobile on-site welding for alloy, stainless and mild steel — powered by our own generator. It’s a practical solution for farmers and orchardists needing prompt, reliable repairs in the field.
Our team brings a diverse range of skills beyond engineering alone. When it comes to solving a problem, we bring more than one set of hands — and more than one perspective — to get the job done right.
We stay up to date with the latest technologies and tools so that we can continue to offer efficient, precise and cost-effective solutions. This includes our new water jet cutter — one of the largest in the South Island — allowing for faster turnaround and even greater precision.
Precision and Possibility with Our Maxiem 2040 Water Jet Cutter

The addition of our Maxiem 2040 5-axis water jet cutter has transformed the way we approach custom builds — especially our alloy dog boxes. We can now incorporate personalised touches like company names or logos, using either client-supplied drawings or our own in-house designs. This precision makes it easy to reproduce boxes or tweak designs to suit each customer’s unique vision.

We were also proud to contribute to the Paddon Rallysport Group’s EV rally car project — a milestone for Central Otago innovation. Our team assisted with cutting a range of parts, including underbody protection panels from various plastics and rubbers, carbon fibre door cards, and even a slot in the windscreen to allow a roof scoop to sit below the roofline. It’s been a privilege to support such a cutting-edge project.
Beyond motorsport, the water jet has also allowed us to tackle other precision jobs — from cutting 25mm thick granite floor tiles for a high-end garden water feature, to crafting custom signs for farms and businesses in Corten and stainless steel.
